ot so long ago, Myspace was one of the first sites to introduce the concept of social networking. Myspace gave us something that Facebook has limited: coding. Profiles were completely customizable thanks to coding but it also led to slow loading times (DSL was still making its way into the household). During that time period, I remember looking through various video hosting sites to get our work into our profiles. YouTube was one of many that flooded the market but it has become the most dominant. But what does the future hold for YouTube? How long will our videos stay up? Forever? Will someone in a room in Wyoming click a button destroying the cloud and destroying our memories? There is a lot of good debate online right now discussing this subject. Regardless of your stance on the subject, we must consider that YouTube may indeed last forever. As a world we must embrace this concept and realize that all of our memories won’t fall victim to scratches on a DVD or outdated technology. Let me know what you think about this in the comments section. -Ryan

ouTube has not only become a major source of entertainment but also a place for us to learn. Whether it be learning to scramble eggs or in my case learning to build this site, YouTube is a great place to find quality education. However, sometimes distractions and non-useful content can clutter your learning experience. YouTube has been in the works now of launching it’s education version of the site that promises quality education. Some may argue that the classroom experience is the most applicable place in a social and interactive setting. While I agree with this, I also believe that video does things that teachers can’t. Video in some cases can be more efficient, precise and add a better visual/audio experience. I don’t think that doing away with a classroom will be the best way to teach the generations to come but I think a hybrid model of teachers and video will eventually take hold of our educational system. Either way, I’m excited to see a large scale virtual educational platform. Thank you YouTube for once again improving our lives!

YouTube has had a similar look since it’s origin just 6 years ago. Recently, Google decided to give YouTube a faceliftby focusing more on Channels. YouTube says that this will promote users to discover more content. Although some users have embraced this change, others complain about the new look. It’s interesting how our social networks such as YouTube and Facebook have so much control of our lives. As these sites change, we also must adapt whether we like it or not. Check out the new design and let us know whether or not you like the new design.

As our world changes at such a rapid rate, our educational system seems to be falling behind the times. I agree that our old school teaching methods continue to teach students the skill of learning. However, we are now in the internet age where all information is available at all times. Knowledge is no longer confined to those who decide to pursue formal education thanks to great sites like YouTube, Lynda.com and plenty more. So how should we educate our youth? I believe that we must spend more time teaching kids to think creatively and increase their problem solving skills. If everyone has the same access to information, what will really separate people in the future? I saw this great Ted video today that hit right on this subject. Enjoy.

After the initial teaser, the Lytro has now gone official, with a $399 list price ($499 model also on the way) and “early 2012″ availability. A hands-on demo of the oddly-shaped consumer camera is after the jump, but as I asked in the original post, are there motion and professional applications of this technology? Well, turns out there are, and RED just dropped a hint that they’ve already got a prototype.

Many people have told me that when you pursue your passion you will never work a day in your life. It was during my 13th year of life that I realized two of my biggest passions: video production and business. Over the years, I’ve spent countless hours learning and improving these skills. For college, I went to La Sierra University and received my BS in Accounting while leading our world renown Students in Free Enterprise (SIFE) team. SIFE gave me the opportunity to travel to and implement business education projects in Haiti, Colombia, Thailand and Ethiopia. Seeing the world has given me a purpose in life to always strive to help others. Outside of work, I enjoy diverse interests including motocross, live music and wonderful friends. Video production is my vechile to satisfaction and fulfillment.

Cinematography has always been a great part of my life. Playing with cameras since an early age, I have been able to turn one of my true passions into a long-term adventure. Currently, I am fine tuning my business skills as a Marketing major at La Sierra University School. Along with Cool Guys Productions, I also work with my family business: Reliable Trucking. My hobbies consist of filming, riding dirt bikes and traveling. Giving back and connecting with others are my motivations to constantly self improve. My goal is to always bring a smile to the table and share Gods gift of love and laughter.
